Privacy

This is a first draft of how Shortlist handles your information, written in plain words. It will be completed after legal review.

What we keep

Your email address, which you use to sign in. A six digit code is sent to it each time. There is no password.

If you only hire: the name and, if you give it, the company you enter before your first message.

If you make a profile: your name, what you do, the details you choose to add (such as measurements, languages and rates), your city, your trips and your photos.

Your WhatsApp number, only if you add it.

The messages you send and receive, your saved people and lists, the people you blocked and the reports you sent.

Counts of how often your profile was viewed and saved.

To count profile views by people who are not signed in, a scrambled form of their network address is kept for one day. The address itself is not stored.

What other people see

Your profile is public once a photo is approved: anyone who opens the app can see it, without an account.

Your city is shown. The app never uses GPS and never shows an address.

Your email address is never shown.

Your WhatsApp number is never written on your profile. It is given only to signed-in people who tap the WhatsApp button, and only while you have the button switched on.

People you message see your name and, if you gave one, your company.

Nobody sees who saved them or who viewed their profile, only how many.

Photos

Photos are resized on your phone and stored on our storage. A person on our team looks at each photo before it is shown to others.

The address of a stored photo is long and random. Anyone who has the address can open the photo, so treat approved photos as public.

Messages

Messages are stored so both people can read them. We do not read them as a matter of routine. If a conversation is reported, a person on our team may look at it.

Where it is stored

Accounts, profiles, messages and photos are stored with Supabase, the service that runs our database and file storage.

Sign-in emails are sent through an email delivery provider, which receives your email address in order to deliver the code.

On your phone the app keeps your sign-in, the city and filters you last used, and your recent searches.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data.

We do not use advertising networks or advertising trackers. The sponsored placements in the app are arranged by us directly and receive no data about you.

We do not read your location from your phone.

Deleting

You can remove any photo or detail from your profile at any time.

When you delete your account, your profile and photos come down at once and everything is erased for good after 30 days. If you sign in again within those 30 days, the account comes back.

People you wrote to keep the messages you sent them.
